St. James Presbyterian Church

Choirs

The Chancel Choir under the leadership of Music Director Claire Rydell brings a vibrant life to the St. James worship service. The selection of music is wide-ranging, including contemporary, traditional and occasional classical anthems. Anyone who likes to sing and is willing to commit to regular rehearsals (Thursday nights from 7:30 to 9:00 pm) and a Sunday morning service is invited to sing in the Chancel Choir.

The Handbell Choir plays several times during the year at Sunday Worship services and at one or two special occasions during the year. Previous instrumental experience is not required to join the Handbell Choir - just a delight in making music. Knowledge of music is helpful but not required, so don't be afraid to give it try.

The Praise Band consists of a small group of talented young musicians from the congregation who lead the congregation in singing at the regular Sunday Worship service.

The Early Music Ensemble is a group of musicians mostly drawn from the congregation who play recorders, the Celtic harp, cellos and hand drums. The Ensemble plays occasionally during the regular Sunday Worship service. Anyone who enjoys this type of music is welcome and encouraged to join the Ensemble.
