Stephen Ministry is a national, interdenominational organization. It is a one-on-one confidential meeting of two people, a care receiver and a trained Stephen Minister caregiver. Stephen Ministers are lay men and women from the congregation who have developed their gifts for bringing the concerns and care of Christ's community to people in need. They are trained to be loving caregivers, supporters, listeners, and encouragers. If you are a good listener and a compassionate person, consider becoming a Stephen Minister.
On the first Saturday of each month, the Lord's Kitchen volunteers provide a nutricious lunch for individuals in the San Fernando Valley who are in need. A large inventory of donated clothing is also made available for their needs. This is part of an ongoing program in conjunction with other churches who provide meals on the other Saturdays.
Sunday Concert Series: St. James sponsors a series of concerts on Sunday afternoons, a Spring Series and a Fall Series, featuring outstanding professional individual musicians and ensembles performing widely varied music. Concerts are open to the public and there is no charge to attend. Call the church office if you would like to be on the mailing list for the series.
