Deacons
St James is blessed with an extraordinary group of people who serve on the Board of Deacons. The ministry of deacon, as set forth in Scripture, is one of compassion, witness, and service, sharing in the redeeming love of Jesus Christ for the poor, the hungry, the sick, the lost, the friendless, the oppressed, those burdened by unjust policies or structures, or anyone in distress. Deacons are elected by the congregation, and are women and men of spiritual character, honest repute, sincere compassion, and sound judgment.
Every member of St James is assigned to a deacon. Deacons perform regular check-ins to help support and nurture the faith of the church’s members.
